Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza Raises $13,525 for Columbus Citizens Foundation.
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – (October 11, 2016) – In honor of Columbus Day, Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza raised $13,525 to support the Columbus Citizens Foundation, a non-profit organization in New York City committed to fostering an appreciation of Italian-American heritage and achievement.
On Oct. 3, Anthony’s 16 New York and New Jersey restaurants donated 20 percent of their dine-in and take-out sales to the Foundation’s scholarship program, which provides more than $2.2 million annually to deserving Italian-American elementary, high school, college and graduate students.
The donation was presented to Frank Fusaro, Columbus Citizens Foundation’s former President and current Chairman of the Board, by Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza representatives and Joe Piscopo, former Saturday Night Live superstar, actor and host of the “Piscopo in the Morning Show” Monday to Friday on WNYM AM 970 New York. The event took place at Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Clifton, NJ.
“It was an honor to celebrate Christopher Columbus, while doing our part to advance the education of Italian-American students,” said Anthony Bruno, founder and CEO of the brand. “I truly admire organizations such as the Columbus Citizens Foundation that help keep the achievements of the great explorer alive.”
